The Department of Community Health Nursing and students of 1st Year B.Sc. Nursing, GRV College of Nursing, conducted World Cancer Day Programme on 5/2/2024 at Primary Health Centre, Uganawadi, Arasanahalli. Mr. Ajay, Community Health Officer, was the chief guest for the occasion.
The objectives of the program were to create awareness among ASHA workers, School Teachers and School Children's regarding cancer and the role of ASHA workers in cancer prevention. Student representative Ms. Chandrakala welcomed the gathering. Ms. Preethi spoke regarding the theme of World Cancer Day "Close the Care Gap".
The students performed a skit regarding the common risk factors and warning signs of cancer. Mr. Ajay (CHO) highlighted on the supportive schemes and services available for cancer patients and the role of ASHA workers in cancer prevention.
The session was concluded by the open discussion facilitated by Ms. Chandrakala & Ms. Preethi, 1st Year B.Sc. Nursing student. A total of 30 members participated in the program and they identified the program as effective and motivating. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Devika, Ms. Sushma & Ms. Bhoomika, Lecturer, Dept. of Community and Medical Surgical Nursing, GRVCON.
